The Eco Tour Project Map

The Eco Tour introduces you to 32 of the key environmental organisations in Brighton and Hove all of whom are striving to give the city a cleaner, greener future.

The map will take you on a tour of the projects and will provide you with resources which include Our Story, Our Focus and Our Activities, allowing you to get to know each project. We hope you will feel inspired to visit  them and become involved in supporting their work.

History of the Tour

The Eco Tour remained on the drawing board from 2008 until 2011 when it attracted the support of a small group of volunteers and Brighton & Hove Council.

  • Thanks to the Marks & Spencers volunteer program, employee Heather Quin helped trial the first tour, visiting all 32 venues, with Green Centre Creative Director Melanie Rees. At this time the route was mapped out.
  • Brighton & Hove Council financed the first trial on The Big Lemon and we were privileged to be driven by the man himself, Tom Druitt, founder of the company. Volunteers Chloe Banks (8yrs) and Dan Morgan took the tour and gave us their views and Lisa Miller filmed the day.
  • In November of 2011, volunteer Lyndsey Haskell nominated us for Body Shop Foundation funding and we were successful in receiving a grant to create an on-line tour and educational resources.

Thanks to all these wonderful people for helping us bring the vibrant environmental community of Brighton, Hove & Portslade to a wider audience.
