Rampion Windfarm

Rampion Offshore Wind Farm will generate enough green electricity to power the equivalent of around 350,000 UK homes. This is equal to almost half of the homes in Sussex. The wind farm comprises 116 turbines on a 70 square kilometre site located between 13 and 20 kilometres off the Sussex coast in the English Channel. Learn more.

Recover

You throw everything in the bin which means it will be incinerated and create energy for electricity

Recycle

In Brighton and Hove you can recycle your residential waste with 3 different organisations;

  • City Clean
  • Magpie
  • The Green Centre

If you run a business of any kind, whether you work from home or from separate business premises, any waste generated from your work is considered commercial waste and your are legally required to appoint someone to collect that waste.

Reduce

Reduce is one step away from the top of the waste hierarchy. At this stage you are making conscious decisions around how much stuff you acquire. You are buying less and don’t buy much stuff which has a negative impact on the environment

Refuse

Refuse is at the very top of the waste hierarchy. At this stage you will have stopped buying products which have a negative impact on the environment.

Renewable

Renewable energy is energy that is collected from renewable resources, which are naturally replenished on a human timescale, such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal heat.

Reuse

Reuse sits right in the middle of the Waste Hierachy. At the very heart of reuse is a single key principle; we need to prolong the life of everything by using things over and over again.

There are 2 aspects to reuse;

  • let go of anything you no longer use so other people can make use of it; you can sell it, you can lend it or you can give it away
  • when you need something aim to borrow or hire before choosing to purchase
