You can take them to the Brighton Household Waste & Recycling site on Wilson Avenue or the Hove Household Waste & Recycling site on the Old Shoreham Road. See here for exact locations and opening times. For more details contact City Clean on 01273 292929.
How?
Fluorescent tubes and energy saving light bulbs can be included at the Household & Waste Recycling sites. As they contain small amounts of mercury and hazardous materials they should not be included in your general waste.
Old style incandescent bulbs are not recyclable and are not hazardous. Please throw them away in your household rubbish.
DID YOU KNOW?
There are two main types of energy efficient light bulbs available in the UK. Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs) and Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs). Both CFLs and LEDs are a cost-effective option for most general lighting requirements.
LED light bulbs use about one-sixth of the electricity that conventional bulbs do, cost about a quarter as much to use, and last about 40 times longer.
