How?

  • Fluorescent tubes and energy saving light bulbs can be included at the Household & Waste Recycling sites. As they contain small amounts of mercury and hazardous materials they should not be included in your general waste.
  • Old style incandescent bulbs are not recyclable and are not hazardous. Please throw them away in your household rubbish.

DID YOU KNOW?

  • There are two main types of energy efficient light bulbs available in the UK. Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs) and Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs). Both CFLs and LEDs are a cost-effective option for most general lighting requirements.
  • LED light bulbs use about one-sixth of the electricity that conventional bulbs do, cost about a quarter as much to use, and last about 40 times longer.
