We deliver talks, workshops and consultancy based on the 10 principles of One Planet Living to a range of group sizes.
Global warming and climate change present a modern challenge that calls for everyone to embrace sustainable living. This topic is vast, affecting every aspect of our lives. To navigate this transition, we can turn to schools, colleges, and universities, where learning is typically structured through curricula that outline key concepts and actions. One Planet Living (OPL) is one such framework.
Created by the environmental charity Bioregional and World Wildlife Fund in 2003, OPL uses ten simple principles to guide and communicate sustainable living. Interestingly, the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted in 2015, are based on One Planet Living.
At The Green Centre, we’ve been practicing One Planet Living since 2013 through a range of community activities, including our legendary Zero Waste Programme. Our award-winning expertise in OPL is renowned throughout the South East so we are qualified to continue your education by delivering workshops to you, your colleagues, your organisation or your community.

FEEDBACK
“Melanie’s workshop for the Making Critical Hope Practical project at Sussex University was very inspiring. Melanie shared her personal journey with great frankness and passion, and took the students through a number of practical and fun exercises to increase their knowledge about recycling in Brighton. A great combination of content that clearly resonated with all workshop participants.” Anke Schwittay, Professor in Anthropology and Global Development, University of Sussex
"Melanie chaired a Plastic Free July lunch event for us here at Community Base, and it is hard to see who else we could have asked. Melanie is not only incredibly knowledgeable on the minute details of recycling across the UK (and beyond) but is an amazing chair who holds space beautifully and is acutely aware of how to make people feel listened to, included and, most importantly, that there is no such thing as a stupid question." Luke Starr, Community Base.
“Attending the event with Melanie was great. We made a good team, I was able to provide information on Council services and Melanie on the many additional options available for recycling and sustainable living. She is so experienced, credible and a fantastically informed, honest and entertaining speaker.” Juliet Evans, Waste Minimisation Officer at Brighton & Hove City Council.
