1.Local actions
Our starting point was to identify some simple ideas to include in our work on a daily basis. We identified, "CONNECTION", "LOVE" and the "NURTURE" of community:
- in 2006 we set out from the very beginning to listen to what you, the residents of the city had to say about Global Warming, Climate Change and all things connected. Between 2006 and 2008 we positioned ourselves in the heart of the community and allowed ourselves to be led by your ideas for a pathway to a sustainable city. Through this process we have been able to acquire and share local knowledge and nurture a culture of sustainability.
- in 2007 we became a Community Interest Company [CIC]. This is a special type of limited company which exists to benefit the community rather than to make profit. We were the first CIC in South East England.
- in 2009, following 3 years of active listening, we were able to transform the thoughts and ideas of Brighton & Hove residents into a community project at a premises leased to us on a peppercorn rent by the East Brighton Trust. Without their support, over 8 years, we would not exist today.
- we have established collaborative relationships with individuals, schools, colleges, universities, businesses, charities and environmental initiatives creating strong community links.

We enjoy many connections across the globe, supporting communities through donations of equipment and funds and participating in campaigns:
