If your vacuum cleaner is still in good working order then you can sell it or give it away;

  • You can donate it to a charity shop.
  • You can sell it at a car boot sale or use a number of online platforms including Gumtree, Friday-Ad, Facebook selling pages and other online platforms. 
  • You can also give it away for free through Freegle.

  • Please take it to the Brighton Household Waste & Recycling site on Wilson Avenue or the Hove Household Waste & Recycling site on the Old Shoreham Road. See here for exact locations and opening times.

How?

  • Please remove the "waste" from your vacuum cleaner before recycling.

  • Vacuum cleaners are part of WEEE which stands for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment. WEEE includes most products that have a plug or need a battery.
  • Every year an estimated 2 million tonnes of WEEE items are discarded by householders and companies in the UK.

Vapes: Disposable

Yes disposable vapes can be recycled.

The law in the UK includes disposable vapes as waste electrical and electronic equipment, known as WEEE. You can recycle them in the following places:

  • Evapo59 North St, Brighton, Brighton and Hove, Brighton BN1 1RH
  • Brighton & Hove Household Waste & Recycling sites at Old Shoreham Road and Wilson Avenue - include in the electric recycling skip.

Vegware Packaging

Yes Vegware packaging can be recycled.

  • The Green Centre at Brighton Open Market is the only Vegware reycling scheme accessible to the public in Brighton and Hove.
  • You can drop off 

How?

  • Your Vegware packaging must be clean.
  • Please stack similar shape items inside each other to reduce the amound of space they take up.

Yes vending machine cups can be recycled.

Where?

  • You can recycle vending machine cups which carry the number 6 or 06 and the letters PS. 
  • If your vending machine cups qualify then you can participate in the 'Save-a-cup' recycling scheme. Find out more here. 
  • The cups are used to make pens and rulers.

Yes videos tapes can be reused and recycled.

You may be able to reuse your video tapes by selling them or giving them away but demand is practically zero! You may be able to sell video tapes which are rare or are collectors items.
